Gibson Girl Paper Dolls in Full Color
Published in Paperback by Dover Pubns (December, 1985)
Author: Tom Tierney
Average review score:

Enjoyable...
This paper doll set, like the others, has a great deal of charm and a lot of character. In this case, the characters are also namable and have beautiful clothing items and the ever-helpful hints on the inside of the cover and back. I think this will appeal to many girls, especially those who like dressing up...these are a great deal of fun.

Gibson's Landing
Published in Paperback by Terra Bella Publishers ()
Author: Michael Thoma
Average review score:

What I liked best were the characters & desciptions.
The book takes place in a small town. The main character has gone to start a new life and connect with his roots. He is intelligent and original. I found myself identifying strongly with his feelings. The contrast between the young and the old man was beautifully developed. Definately a good read. I hope we will be seeing a lot more from this author.

Gimson's Pronunciation of English

Authors: Alan Cruttenden and A. C. Gibson
Average review score:

Gimson's Pronunciation of English
I find the Gimson's Pronunciation of English by Alan Cruttenden to be an excellent book. English language is not my native language. Hence, it was very hard for me to understand the English pronunciation. This book helped me to understand the basics of English Phonetics. By understanding the English phonetics I was able to improve my pronunciation enormously. I can strongly recommend this book to everyone.

The Golden Age

Authors: Kenneth Grahame and Flo Gibson
Average review score:

K. Grahame Examines Childhood
Kenneth Grahame's rich, elegant writing make "The Golden Age" a joy to read and reread. While it is a story of children in late Victorian England, it is not a childish book. Rather, it is an examination of how children view the world and are confounded by the actions of the adults around them. Grahame had a wonderful knack for presenting the child's point of view without being cutesy or condescending - no other author has as successfully done this. Nor does he present the typical Victorian view that children are all little angels and always innocent. All adults should read this book - it makes one stop and examine one's priorities and will encourage you recapture a zest for life and imagination.

Guitar Identification: A Reference Guide to Serial Numbers for Dating the Guitars Made by Fender, Gibson, Gretsch, C.F. Martin & Co
Published in Paperback by Hal Leonard (May, 1999)
Author: Andre Duchossoir
Average review score:

A Book That's Worth Its Weight in Gold
Many years ago, I bought the first edition of this book. Since then, it has saved me from many a bad deal and has also helped me better indentify a few instruments that I already owned. There ARE books that are more detailed (such as Gruhn's identification guide), but this very succinct and reader-friendly guide enables the reader to help find and use serial numbers (and the way they're applied - inked, stamped, decal) and other indicators (such as paper labels inside hollow body guitars) to quickly figure out the manufacture year of the major brands of guitars. I confess that I haven't seen the latest edition, but my edition has an abundance of sample photos, lists and charts to help the reader. These days, with the price of vintage guitars at an almost absurd level, this book could save the reader from a very costly mistake. Of course, a book this short cannot give you EVERYTHING you would need to know in EVERY case (and I'd certainly be careful with very expensive instruments - conterfeits exist), but I consider this book to be an absolute must-have for any guitar collector's library and an outstanding value to boot. It's easily worth double the price.

The Hank the Cowdog Gift Set (Hank the Cowdog Set)
Published in Paperback by Puffin (September, 1999)
Authors: John R. Erickson, Gerald Holmes, and K. Gibson
Average review score:

Mamas Don't Let Your Puppies Grow Up to be Cowdogs
This is a humorous story from the point of view of Hank, the Cowdog, detective and protector of all within his territory. He takes the weight of the ranch on his shoulders trying to save the chickens from being murdered by coyotes. He is mistaken, misunderstood and maligned until he finally joins the enemy.

Children with the Cinderella-syndrome may relate to Hank as he complains of how nobody appreciates him and how they will not be able to get along without him once he runs away. Relationships between Hank and the farm cat, other dogs, and his owners are well-developed and entertaining.

Hasinai: A Traditional History of the Caddo Confederacy
Published in Hardcover by Texas A&M University Press (January, 1989)
Authors: Vynola Beaver Newkumet, Howard L. Meredith, and Arrell M. Gibson
Average review score:

Hasinai : A Traditional History of the Caddo Confederacy
This book is one of my all time favorites. This book is very easy to read. The late Vynola Beaver Newkumet, a respected Caddo Tribal elder wrote this book with the assistance of a talented non tribal member writer. It is full of easily absorbed interesting information about the Caddo Tribe and its people.

You will find yourself returning to favorite passages in this book to re experience them. This book is a traditional history but it isn't mainstream American traditional history. It is explained from a distinctly Native American point of view.

Hasinai provides narratives of Caddo Tribal business council and cultural leaders. It also provides information about Caddo tribal words and language. This is a living history book. There are very well taken photographs in this book. Some must be extremely treasured by their owners.

This definitely is a must have book. You and your children will enjoy it. It will be a conversation piece.

Hieronymus Bosch
Published in Paperback by Thames & Hudson (February, 1985)
Author: Walter S. Gibson
Average review score:

The World Turned Right Again: Walter Gibson Explains Bosch
Art is a mystical and magical phenomenon. For that reason, few scholars of the art of the past can resist the temptation to cloud their work with terminal over-analysis and obfuscating jargon. Fortunately, Walter Gibson (like St. Anthony in the desert) does not succumb to these demons. With a clear eye, he reviews the work, thought and religious sentiment of one of the most mystical painters in human history; however, he never lets daylight in upon magic. The reader finishes this delightful little tome on Bosch with a better understanding of his work, but a profound respect for his mystery. Gibson is erudite without being obfuscatory, respectful without being unduly ingratiating. An excellent work by someone who truly loves and understands art.
